Troubleshooting and protection scope
First separate a privacy-scope question from a configuration or connection error. CCIso interface steps follow the macOS version; Windows and Linux versions are not released yet.
Establish the scope
Section titled “Establish the scope”Can I install CCIso now?
Section titled “Can I install CCIso now?”Yes, on macOS: get the PKG installer from the download page (Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 13 or later). Windows and Linux versions are still planned and not released.
Does CCIso isolate my Documents and Desktop folders?
Section titled “Does CCIso isolate my Documents and Desktop folders?”Full private-folder isolation is not implemented. Existing work covers connection rules, specific credential protections and check results. That does not establish that Claude can read only files you explicitly select.
Read the separate file, connection and credential boundaries.
Does a green status mean private data cannot be sent?
Section titled “Does a green status mean private data cannot be sent?”A green status reports the relevant checks; it is not a file-access audit or outbound content review. CCIso does not currently inspect the contents of each allowed connection.
Are proxy passwords and Claude login credentials the same?
Section titled “Are proxy passwords and Claude login credentials the same?”No. The current macOS core restricts storage of proxy secrets. Claude login credentials instead involve reading rules and permission checks for named files. Their locations and protections differ, and neither establishes isolation of other personal files.
Does activation provide stronger core protection?
Section titled “Does activation provide stronger core protection?”No. Core protection and checks are the same with or without activation. Additions such as always-on protection, automatic updates and deep clean do not supply private-folder isolation or content inspection that has not been implemented.
Review editions and activation.
Check connections and configuration
Section titled “Check connections and configuration”Claude Code returns 403. Is it the proxy?
Section titled “Claude Code returns 403. Is it the proxy?”First establish whether the response came from the proxy, a gateway or the Claude service, then address the relevant authentication, access or service error. A 403 alone does not identify a proxy problem. Follow Anthropic’s help guidance for account or organization permissions.
The Proxy line in /status says invalid. What now?
Section titled “The Proxy line in /status says invalid. What now?”Check that the proxy address is complete and includes the correct HTTP or HTTPS scheme. Claude Code does not directly support SOCKS proxies. Correct the configuration, restart the session and check the Proxy row again.
It works in my terminal but not in background sessions or my editor.
Section titled “It works in my terminal but not in background sessions or my editor.”Those processes may read different environments. Merge network variables into the env block of user-level settings.json, check managed settings and existing proxy variables, then restart the relevant sessions. A supervisor may retain an older environment; let tasks finish before restarting it.
See configuration examples for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Does a timeout mean protection is working?
Section titled “Does a timeout mean protection is working?”A timeout alone cannot establish that. First distinguish an offline computer, an incorrect proxy address, authentication failure and rule or service problems. With CCIso, also use the results of the Health check and Test connection.
How should I report a problem?
Section titled “How should I report a problem?”Describe the system, version, steps and error message. Review diagnostics before sharing and remove passwords, tokens, key-file contents and unnecessary personal information. Do not attach the complete key file.
