Manage key files and their copies
A key file contains sensitive connection material. Successful import is only the first step: the copy CCIso stores and the original you downloaded need separate access controls.
Before importing
Section titled “Before importing”Your provider supplies the file. Keep the original out of Claude projects, chat attachments and shared repositories. CCIso does not currently isolate all private folders; moving the file to another ordinary folder does not automatically restrict reading.
Import and validation
Section titled “Import and validation”-
When choosing a channel, drag the key file into the CCIso window and confirm it is the file you intend to use.
-
Wait for signature, format and expiry checks. Only a validated file should proceed to configuration.
-
Review the result, then click Test connection. A valid file does not establish a reachable channel or coverage of every target process.
If validation fails, do not edit the file to make the error disappear. Check that it is complete, intended for this software and within its validity period. Contact the issuer when a replacement is needed. CCIso cannot extend that period for the issuer.
Replacing a file
Section titled “Replacing a file”Keep the current configuration while validating the replacement, then confirm the switch. Do not delete an older copy merely because the names look similar; first confirm the new configuration and connection checks. Follow the prompts in the app for the exact interface.
Original and stored copy
Section titled “Original and stored copy”| Item | Current scope |
|---|---|
| Copy stored by CCIso | The macOS core uses directory and file permissions restricted to the system administrator identity |
| Original download | Its original location and permissions still apply; import does not establish deletion or isolation |
| Claude login credentials | A different kind of credential, not replaced by a proxy key file |
The current implementation is not a cross-platform system keychain and does not promise no plaintext on disk. Do not paste key-file contents into a support request. Review diagnostics yourself before sharing any secrets.
Activation and validity
Section titled “Activation and validity”Core protection is the same with or without activation. See editions and activation for activation and expiry. The issuer controls the key’s own validity period; it is separate from CCIso activation.
